Large carved vase made from New Zealand Ponga, the Maōri name for Giant Tree Fern - the New Zealand National emblem. This vase is completely unique as it came from the fibrous trunk of a fern tree. Probably from the 1960s or 70s, this vase has a groovy midcentury modern vibe. It is not water tight, so not suitable on its own for fresh flowers needing water. As you can see in the last picture, it was really easy to slip a skinny glass jar of water inside if you needed it as a vase!
